The side effects most commonly seen in a medical study1 were knee pain, stiffness and swelling or fluid buildup in or around the knee.
Side effects were generally mild to moderate and did not last long. Since Synvisc-One® (hylan G-F 20) is injected directly into the knee, it doesn’t have the serious side effects found with many pain pills.
If you have just received Synvisc-One treatment and have mild pain or swelling at the injection site, you may want to keep an ice pack on your knee for 10 minutes, or as recommended by your doctor.
